Memory Techniques
Adapting memory techniques to remember tough details is not a new concept. However human memory is complicated. Some associate memory with intelligence. But both are different. Memory is the power of your mind to store data and retrieve them when needed. Intelligence is the concerned with processing the data in the right manner. If a person has both good memory power and high intelligence he can achieve lots of things in his life. He is considered to be gifted one. If there is no memory power, all the intelligence you possess would be a waste. Similarly if you have memory power and lack intelligence this will not help you beyond a certain limit. Therefore all intelligent people search for memory techniques.
Understanding is directly proportionate to your memory. If you understand things better then they will stand in your memory for a long time. There is a limit for human memory. This limit varies from one another. Therefore you need memory techniques to increase this limit. You can remember concepts through various methods and important technique is attributing it to a particular thing or idea that you are already familiar with. If you are studying or memorizing something in your garden, you fix a particular portion to your favorite tree, the next to your favorite spot, the next to your favorite flower and so on. When you fail to remember, such memory techniques will help you to take them back from its storage point in your brain.
If you have just learned the name of a person, imagine their role in your future life. If it is very important, you will automatically fix it in the permanent storage area in your brain. That is why you remember the names of actors, doctors and politicians and forget the names or your wayfarers. Though you follow various memory techniques, the unused memory that lies hidden your brain will slowly fade in time. If you want to keep it fresh always, you can refresh it by recalling. For example the names of your school friends will be there in your memory for at least ten years. Then slowly you start to forget them one by one if you do not have contacts with them.
The memory techniques involve stimulation of your brain so that you will retain the data for a long time. Telling the names aloud will have a dual effect. One is uttering and the other is hearing. This will strengthen your memory power.
